A stunning and large Victorian banded agate and diamond locket. Beautifully carved chunky agate gives fully dimensional character. It consists of three colors: dark brown, white and taupe. The pattern and colors coordinate consistently in good balance. A bright old cut diamond is set in the star motif design. The size of the stone is approximately 0.35-0.38ct. The locket has an open-back frame, and now the photo compartment remains empty with blue silk in it. The glass is intact. Finely done inscription reads around the back frame; 'In Memory of J.P. Denton who fell asleep on 30th Nov. 1871 Aged 71.'

This locket is 18k yellow gold. There is an '18' stamp for 18k and 'EB' (makers mark) on the back. Overall it is in great condition with no damage to the magnificent carving.
