"The Vulcain watch manufacturer was founded in 1858 and is the inventor of the alarm complication for wristwatches. This innovation made the Vulcain watches popular with American presidents starting with Harry S. Truman, earning the brand its reputation as “The Watch for Presidents. . .
With more than 150 years of history and innovation, Vulcain perpetuates its historical heritage and unique know-how. The manufacture has a prominent role within the international watchmaking landscape thanks to its high-quality mechanical timepieces manufactured in-house."

At the 1929 World Fair in Barcelona, Vulcain was awarded the Grand Prix (Grand Prize) for its watch manufacture, and has then commemorated that special moment on their watches, by adding "Grand Prix" to the dial, movement, or both. -vulcain.ch/pages/history-of-vulcain
This is a very elegant vintage Vulcain wristwatch that we estimate to be from the 1940s. The case, bezel and fancy lugs are 10K yellow gold filled in exceptional condition, especially for its age. The case measures 26.8 x 33.7 mms, and houses the beautiful silver dial which features a satin finish, shiny gold Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12, with gold dots in place of the other numerals. The gold hour and minute hands are lance-shaped, and the gold sub second hand is also gold. The dial is signed Vulcain, Grand Prix, and Swiss. The curved-dome crystal is in excellent condition with no scratches that we can see. The silver and gold combine for a beautiful two-tone effect.
The Swiss stroboscopic mechanical movement runs great! It features 17 jewels, caliber 708, and is unadjusted.
It comes on a very attractive black leather two-piece strap with a gold-tone buckle.
This beautiful Vulcain Grand Prix wristwatch is an absolutely beautiful piece to add to any collection, and will be an elegant touch when worn on special occasions.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.
We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended.
